CFP for Two Research Workshops in China

(1) “Decoupling” and Trade

(2) Government Policy and AI

Eddie Ashbee (Copenhagen Business School) is co-organising two workshops at the end of the year under the auspices of the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research (SDC) and the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). The workshops will be held in the SDC building on the UCAS campus about 60 kms from the centre of Beijing. It’s within sight of the Great Wall, accommodation is nearby and there are some excellent restaurants just a short taxi ride away.

The first workshop (November 30th – December 1st) will consider global trade and “decoupling” processes. If you interested in presenting a paper at the workshop please send a 200 word abstract with brief biographical details to both Wu Desheng Dash (dash.wu@gmail.com) and Eddie Ashbee (ea.egb@cbs.dk) BEFORE Thursday August 31st 2023.

The second, which will be held two weeks later (December 14th – 15th) with look at the policy implications of – and government resonses to – Artificial Intelligence. If you interested in presenting a paper at the workshop please send a 200 word abstract with brief biographical details to both Lv Ping (lvping@ucas.ac.cn) and Eddie Ashbee (ea.egb@cbs.dk) BEFORE Thursday August 31st 2023.

Proposals considering US policy, processes of policy development during Trump and Biden eras, and the impact of recent measures such as the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act would be particularly welcome. Surveys of the debates around both AI and “decoupling” amongst both US conservatives and the left might also be of interest.

For further information on either of these workshops, please contact Professor Eddie Ashbee at ea.egb@cbs.dk
