CALL FOR PAPERS – ELECTION 2024: WHAT’S NEXT FOR U.S. POLITICS? A STUDENT LED CONFERENCE

March 22, 2024

American Politics Conference

With the United States’ Presidential Election fast approaching, Edge Hill University will be hosting a student-led conference on US politics, which will take place on Friday 22nd March 2024. We are currently accepting submissions, as an individual or as a panel, from those interested in presenting papers and presentations, including from undergraduate and postgraduate students. This conference will be free to attend and present.

The deadline for submissions is 1st March 2024.

Conference Theme

The conference will be themed around politics in the United States, very broadly defined. Interested speakers are invited to present proposals broadly associated with any of the following (non-exhaustive) list of topics:

· Election Cycles

· Marginalised Groups

· Foreign Policy

· Contentious Issues

· Tech and Trade

· Trump and the Legacy of Presidents

In addition, the conference theme will coincide with the 2024 U.S. election year, and associated presentations are also welcome.

What Will the Conference Look Like?

The conference will take place on the campus of Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, situated between Liverpool and Preston. Each panel will consist of 3-5 speakers who will present a paper of around 15-20 minutes in length. Following this, a Q&A will give audience members a chance to engage and create a general discussion. Typically, presentations will tackle an existing issue which is prominent in American politics, and do not need to present a new thesis or re-invent the wheel.
